Wubete Update - May 2010 Thank you for your gracious enquiry about our Wubete. She has been unwell with pneumonia but is now on the mend slowly. We are trying to help her gain weight!!! She is such a tiny little thing at the best of times. Due to government regulations we have been obliged to replace the housemothers with women with higher educational levels. This has been tough on all of us! But we have found a good solution. The previous fistula patients have been transferred into Shire town where they will work a day workers, cleaners, cooks, laundry workers and attend school at night to improve their educational levels and eventually return with the required qualifications. This is working well. It means they can sleep all night, they don’t work 24/7 as before; but naturally they miss the children. It is good that they see them everyday though and can have their daily hugs and kisses from them! Here is a recent picture of our Wubete herewith for your enjoyment. She has her head covered and sits with her children.
